The Darkness of the Crimson Light

Fantasy Fiction Novel

One by one they appear from white light – violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow and orange. They move through the black and curl around her body. Time has no function here and as she dances with the colours she feels almost complete. It would be perfect except one colour is missing.

She whispers its name, ‘Red.’

But red doesn’t come like the other colours. Reluctant red, why does it always stay away? She runs after it but it streaks across the black like a bird of fire. Finally, she gives up.

‘Red, please!’

Suddenly red stops, hovering in mid-air. It seems to stare right at her, its sound an electronic crackle. It grows bright, like a red star, and then vanishes from sight.

For the moment red stops for the first time, the edges of her reality and imagination begin to blur. Rose closes her eyes and wills red to be with her again. She dares to look and finds herself in a world she has never seen before.

The Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars A great YA level fantasy book!

I really enjoyed this book.

Its a first novel from the writer and its a great book, pitched at YA.
The story is a fantasy which builds to a great set-piece ending, with a cliff-hanger for the next story.
The characters are well-drawn and developed nicely, and while the plot seemed to jump on occasion, leaving me with questions (which hopefully will be answered in later books!) , the pace was good.

All in all, I would recommend this to any lovers of fantasy, especially those who want in on the beginning of what looks to be an interesting series. Ideal for young adults, although as a 50+ woman I enjoyed it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn’t put this book down

I really, really enjoyed this book from start to finish. The characters are believable and relatable. The book is a good length, everything is introduced well and it moves at a good pace without ever feeling rushed, whilst the ending leaves you wanting more, but in the best way.

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked it!

This is a story about discovering your inner bravery.
In The Darkness of the Crimson Light we’re following young Rose and her companions on a colourful adventure, in both our world and the mysterious Sansakra. An exciting story where the readers get to know a stubborn girl with a certain instinct, during a turbulent time in her life.
The story is eventful and the end leaves you wanting to know what happens next!
This is an enjoyable and recommendable book for everyone who enjoys the YA genre.
Really looking forward to read what happens in the next volume!
